Aÿ-Champagne, Small Town of Character®
Starting from Aÿ-Champagne , a designated Petite Cité de Caractère® (Small Town of Character), you begin your cycling journey at a leisurely pace, in a peaceful atmosphere. The winemakers' houses light up with the morning sun as you ride towards Avenay-Val-d'Or, passing alongside the neatly aligned vineyards.
Here, Pinot Noir is everywhere: the rows of vines trace beautiful lines on the slopes and overlook the valley below. The road climbs gently, perfect for finding your rhythm while enjoying the scenery.

Heading towards the Montagne de Reims
As you approach Germaine , a forest village, the scenery changes. The vineyards give way to denser nature, announcing the entrance to the forest.
The route then takes you towards Saint-Imoges and then Nanteuil-la-Forêt , in the heart of the Montagne de Reims Regional Natural Park. The atmosphere becomes cooler and more enveloping. The roads wind between the trees, offering a rejuvenating interlude where calm and nature reign supreme.

Hautvillers, the birthplace of Champagne
Gradually, the forest opens up, giving way to the sunlight of the vineyards. Arriving in Hautvillers marks a highlight of the journey. This iconic village, considered the historical birthplace of Champagne, invites you to stop and enjoy the view.
This is where Dom Pierre Pérignon, the spiritual father of champagne, lived. Strolling through the narrow streets with their wrought-iron signs, you'll discover a rich and vibrant heritage, intimately linked to the history of the world's most famous wine.

Champillon and the panorama of the Marne Valley
The route continues with a final climb towards Champillon . This last effort leads to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the region.
At the summit, a magnificent panorama unfolds over the Marne Valley and the surrounding vineyards, stretching as far as Épernay. A true reward for your journey.
